Premillennial Preterism

Fully Reigning with Christ as Priests and Kings since 70AD (Luke 19:11-27)

Premillennial Preterism says that the one and only Parousia occurred in 70AD, the Millennium is ongoing today, and the end is yet to come.

The Antichrist and the Second Coming: A Preterist Examination

What if the commonly held beliefs concerning the Antichrist are mistaken? The Antichrist and the Second Coming looks at the Antichrist and the Second Advent of Christ from a preterist (i.e., past fulfillment) perspective and provides a unified interpretation of the little horn, the prince to come, the king of the North, and the man of lawlessness. McKenzie shows how the Antichrist was ultimately a spiritual ruler from the abyss (Rev. 11:7) that worked through Titus in his three-and-a-half-year destruction of the Jewish nation (AD 67-70; cf. Dan. 9:26). This spirit of Antichrist was about to come out of the abyss in the first century (Rev. 17:8 NASB) and was destroyed by the Second Advent of Jesus in AD 70 (a spiritual event). Continue reading to see how McKenzie convincingly makes the biblical case for this fascinating and controversial position, and what it means for us today.

More on a Single Resurrection

Started by Douglas Wilkinson. Last reply by Douglas Wilkinson on Saturday. 2 Replies

I've mentioned before that I think it might be very helpful that Duncan has pointed out the textual variant in Rev. 20:5a.  Though I don't think people appreciate the structural curveball that a double resurrection requires, N. T. Wright has noted…Continue

The Fulfillment of "All Things"

Started by Douglas Wilkinson May 9. 0 Replies

I'd initially planned on a longer article to address the issue of "all things" being fulfilled in 70AD.  After wading through just a few of the 4,700 uses of the term "all" in the scripture, I decided to try a shorter article.  A longer one might be…Continue

Ezekiel 38 and "the last days" of Israel

Don Preston has written quite a bit on the "Last Days". His book on the topic, "The Last Days Identified" was written to document all of the uses of the term in scripture.  In his recent Youtube presentations on Gog and Magog (Morning Musings, or…Continue

The Simplicity of 2nd Thessalonians

Started by Douglas Wilkinson Apr 30. 0 Replies

Every now and then I'm amazed at how simple and obvious the preterist message is and how completely futurist eschatology misses the point.  Consider the simple presentation below from 2nd Thessalonians. It's been my experience that the second…Continue

Valentinius the Gnostic

Moving forward from Doceticism, let's look at Valentinian Gnosticism.  Valentinian Gnosticism has been described as the most influential and typical school known to us.  This stereotypical Gnostic school will be used to compare and contrast…Continue

Docetic Gnoticism, Hymenaus, and Jesus of Nazareth as the Christ

The most common allegation of heresy involving preterism is that it promotes a "gnostic-like" understanding of the resurrection associated with Doceticisim.  Specifically, the allegation against preterism is that we are proposing a "disembodied…Continue

Resurrection of the Self Same Body

Started by Douglas Wilkinson Apr 21. 0 Replies

For many, the creedal doctrine of the resurrection of the "self same body" is non-negotiable.  Likewise, the final state is considered to be here, on a perfected earth.  If you don't adhere to this paradigm, you are a heretic and can't be teaching…Continue

My Old Position on the Millennium

Posted by Duncan McKenzie on February 17, 2012 at 4:14pm 7 Comments

Originally I rejected Russell’s position on the millennium. Allow me to share some of my earlier thoughts, as I think they appear promising initially (and some preterists are advocating them today) but ultimately lead in the wrong direction. My earlier position was that Revelation 20:4 was the 70 AD beginning of the millennium and that Revelation 20:11-12 was the resurrection and judgment at the end of the millennium (which I saw as the end of time). I thus was in agreement with Russell that…

NOTE:  Ortho-miillennialism is an alternative view to Full-Preterism and partial-Preterism.  It removes the notion of the Millennium beginning in 30 AD and ending in 70 AD.   Ortho-millennium…
